From 1989 this event takes place the first week of September with the participation of Jazz groups from Colombia and other countries. Festival scenario has seen the most outstanding contemporary Jazz personalities providing the festival great relevance.




Son conciertos organizados por el Instituto Distrital de Recreación y Deporte. Se programan los jueves de luna llena o los más cercanos a esa fase lunar en los parques Nacional Olaya Herrera, en la plaza de eventos del Central Simón Bolívar y en la Concha Acústica de El Tunal.



From May to June and from August to September a global musical selection goes on scene - opera, zarzuela and operetta, interpreted by Colombian and international artists at Colón Theatre, Camarín del Carmen and Colsubsidio Roberto Arias Pérez Theatre.




The Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá gives season concerts every Saturday at National University León de Greiff Auditorium from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. For programming please call 3406643 and 2883466 ext. 116 and tickets may be acquired at the Auditorium entrance.




PARK EVENTS
A series of free cultural events take place all year round at the different city parks and outdoor scenarios. Such festivals invite important national and international groups. Most outstanding are Rock at the Park in October and Opera at the Park in August.

District Culture and Tourism Institute supports other musical expressions by “Encounters” or lower format events including other activities such as artisan works and gastronomy. The following are programmed in 2003:


• Jazz in September
• Hip Hop in November
Musical cycles programmed from May 2003 are:
• Thursday at Oriol Rangel Room (District Planetarium): mainly classical and Colombian music concerts every Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
• Municipal Musicals: diverse type of musical concerts the first Monday each month at 6:00 p.m.
• Concerts at Media Torta alternating with dances. Musical shows on Saturdays for young population and Sunday family programs.
• Acoustic Localities Shell: concerts programmed for the different localities, addressed to school populations, in schedules agreed with schools.
• National Musical Interpretation Contest
• National Musical Composition Contest.
